Fly Fishing Lodges and Accommodations

Below you'll find information on the Fly Fishing lodges we run and accommodation options we recommend for a few of the different areas of Iceland we operate in.

Accommodations range from wild camping to fishing lodges (luxury and basic), countryside guesthouses and high-end hotels.

 

The (Southern) Highlands - The Highland Fishing Lodge

Servicing KaldakvíslTungnaá and the numerous highland lakes and smaller streams, as well as the Sandá salmon river is Fish Partner´s Highland Fishing Lodge, Completely renovated for the 2019 season the lodge offers a quiet and secluded stay in the Highlands. It has six double/twin bedrooms and can, therefore, accommodate 12 people. The bedrooms are not big but each bedroom has a sink and a large wardrobe. A shared bathroom with two toilets and three showers is at the lodge. The cozy living room and a dining room are perfect to relax after a long day of fishing and enjoying a good meal and a drink. Its location right on Sporðöldulón reservoir means amble fishing opportunities right outside the lodge, be it in the reservoir itself or the small spring creeks feeding it just behind the lodge. The Highland Fishing Lodge is a full-service lodge, all meals are provided and wine, beer, flies, tippet and other necessities are available at the Lodge shop.

Lake Thingvallavatn - Efri Brú Fishing Lodge

For the 2020 season, Fish Partner will be operating a lodge to service our many beats in Lake Thingvallavatn and the surrounding area.

Close by fishing areas includeKárastaðir beat 1, Black Cliffs beat 2, Villingavatnsárós beat 3A, Villingavatnsárós beat 3B, Villingavatn beat 3D(The lake), Kaldárhöfði beat 4, Efri Brú beat 5 as well as the option of having river fishing arranged in a nearby river like Sog or Varmá.

The lodge is a 6 person full services lodge overlooking Lake Úlfjlótsvatn a few minutes from Lake Thingvallavatn.

Other accommodations can be arranged by Fish Partner around Lake Thingvallavatn including private cabins, Lakeside Villa, Kárastaðir guesthouse, camping in the National park and multiple hotels ( including Hotel Grímsborgir).

 

Big Laxá and Mývatn area - Vörðuholt Lodge

Anglers fishing the famous Big Laxá or surrounding waters can stay in the Vörðuholt Lodge. An excellent self-catered or full-service lodge (upon request) set on a hillside overlooking the Big Laxa, some spectacular snowcapped mountains, and the beautiful Aðaldalur valley. There are three rooms with twin beds, as well as a kitchen, living room, dining room, an outdoor deck, and a hot tub. There are many activities and places of interest to visit for non-anglers, including whale watching, Dettifoss waterfall, Lake Mývatn, horse riding and river rafting. 

Other neighboring options include 

Árbót guesthouse or any number of options in the towns of Húsavík and Akureyri.

The Northern Highlands

The many rivers and lakes of the Northern Highlands are remote so accommodation options are limited. Most anglers choose to stay at Hveravellir Guesthouse or to camp in the vast wilderness

Gljúfurá - Gljúfurá Lodge

Fishermen fishing the Gljúfurá salmon river stay at the small and beautiful Gljúfurá lodge overlooking the river. The lodge has two double/twin rooms and one single room, all basic amenities, hot tub, large veranda, BBQ and basic kitchen. The Gljúfurá lodge is self-catering only. The small town of Blönduós is only 10 min drive away from the lodge and there you can find all basic services.
